Pea Ridge Forest was thrilled to welcome over 150 members of the Missouri Green Industry Alliance to the farm on August 27, 2024. We are always proud to support our local organizations - especially as it affords the opportunity for continuing education (CEU). The day was filled with dynamic breakouts and vendor networking opportunities, with sessions rotating every hour to keep the energy high. Field sessions began with Mike leading a morning session on training young trees, followed by an insightful tree talk from Bill Spradley. Meanwhile, back at the barn, attendees were treated to presentations on trees for bees and innovative tree design.

To round out the educational component, Susan Ehlenbeck from the Missouri Department of Agriculture provided a timely update on pests and diseases, while Roy Gross from STL Compost shared valuable insights on soil health.

Mary and Karen, concerned about feeding such a large group, were delighted by the enthusiastic reception of lunch. The cucumber salad and watermelon were quickly devoured, offering a refreshing escape from the rising temperatures. And, of course, Mary's signature chocolate chip cookies were an absolute hit.

Despite the soaring temperatures, which reached a sweltering 100 degrees, the afternoon tours were slightly shortened. A group did make it out to the Razor Hollow Natural Area and thoroughly enjoyed their visit. Ultimately, the day ended on a high note with a lively happy hour by the lake, organized by Bill Spradley, that brought everyone together in great spirits.

Pea Ridge would like to recognize our crew that worked so diligently to put together an event of this magnitude. It would not have been possible without them, and we are grateful for their hard work.

We were honored to host this event at the farm and truly enjoyed the opportunity to connect with and celebrate our industry peers. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event a resounding success!
